Overview

The Lead Business Systems Analyst acts as the key liaison between Actable clients and the Actable technology and analytics teams. They serve as the customer experience data expert for clients, proactively providing points of view on various marketing data topics utilizing specific data for analytics, reporting and activation of data for experience delivery. The Business Systems Analyst should have a strong attention to detail and is entrusted with accurately documenting requirements and acceptance criteria for all types of customer experience data projects, including customer data warehouses, CDPs, and other MarTech tool deployments. They work with a cross-functional team of technical stakeholders, project management and solutions architects to lead systems design and recommendations for platform deployment.

Required Experience

Our ideal candidate has 5 years experience in customer data utilization and deployment, with recent work in either composable or packaged CDP implementations. Other MarTech tool implementations (e.g. personalization engines) are a nice to have. This person should be highly competent technically, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable working in a collaborative team environment, and confident in deadline-driven project delivery. A background in consulting or consultative software implementation is highly desired.

Specific work experiences that are aligned with this role include:

  • Designing and documenting business processes and workflows based on business needs
  • Developing business requirements for large-scale database implementations and migrations
  • Gathering stakeholder input and assembling into normalized, communicable formats
  • Use-case discovery and development of technical requirements for use-case implementation
  • Day-to-day client interaction and client management
  • Quality assurance of business requirements documentation
  • Gap analysis of business requirements and chosen software applications
  • CDP platform management and/or configuration and implementation
  • Risk assessment in platform migration and implementation
  • Researching and proposing cost effective technical solutions to address business challenges such as improvement of development, processes, and governance standards.

 

 

Additional Area of Focus:

  • Direct experience in an CDW or CDP implementation or migration

The Associate Director, Data Engineering, is a pivotal team lead role within Actable’s Data Engineering practice. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the Director in building and leading a team of talented data engineers. We’re looking for a strategic thinker with a proven track record in data architecture, data pipelines, and a passion for fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. 

Your success will hinge on your ability to collaborate effectively with project delivery leaders across Actable. You’ll act as a bridge between the technical expertise of the data engineering team and the broader business goals of our clients. By providing technical leadership and mentorship, you’ll empower your team to deliver exceptional results that fuel data-driven decision making and propel our clients towards success. 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical thought leadership within the data engineering team. Develop and enforce data engineering best practices, ensuring code quality, maintainability, and adherence to industry standards. 
  • Data Pipeline Development: Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of data pipelines. Ensure data is collected, processed, and stored efficiently and accurately. Implement data quality checks and monitoring processes to uphold data integrity. 
  • Data Architecture and Design: Support the Data Engineering Director in designing and building scalable data platforms for client projects. 
  • Mentorship and Coaching: Mentor and coach junior data engineers, fostering a collaborative learning environment by helping them develop their technical skills and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other teams within Actable, including Solutions and Customer Success, to ensure seamless integration of data engineering solutions into client projects. 
  • Innovation and Problem-Solving: Identify and evaluate new data engineering tools and technologies to enhance our capabilities and address evolving client needs. Lead brainstorming sessions and collaborative problem-solving efforts to tackle complex data challenges. 
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Champion the creation and maintenance of clear and concise technical documentation for data pipelines and processes. Foster a culture of knowledge sharing within the team through code reviews, knowledge base creation, and brown bag sessions. 
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and analyze the performance of data pipelines and platforms. Identify bottlenecks and implement strategies for improvement, ensuring data pipelines are efficient, scalable, and meet client requirements. 
  • Client Interface: Participate in client meetings as needed to gather requirements, present solutions, and answer technical questions. Build strong working relationships with key client stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. 

 

Specific responsibilities include: 

  • Support the Director of Data Engineering in leading the data engineering team. 
  • Combine and organize raw information from different sources, analyze and organize raw data, build data pipelines, and analytical tools. 
  • Creation of data architecture artifacts such as data dictionaries, pipeline topologies, ERD diagrams, and other documents needed to define data pipelines.  
  • Strong SQL skills and a good understanding of existing SQL warehouses and relational databases. 
  • Deep understanding, both conceptually and in practice, of at least one object-oriented programming language (Python, Scala). 
  • Build large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines. 
  • Interpret and have a POV on data management trends and patterns. 
  • Experience with container orchestration technology (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Support development of thought leadership materials

Required Experience 

Our candidate is a well-rounded professional with explicit experience in MarTech. This person should be well exposed to the MarTech landscape. 

Specifically, desirable experience includes: 

  • 3-5+ Years of Experience as a Data Engineer or similar role. 
  • Strong experience in Cloud platforms and related services (e.g. AWS, Azure, GCP). 
  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, IT, Data Engineering or related field. 
  • Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques 
  • Deep understanding, both conceptually and in practice of at least one object orientated library (Python, Scala). 
  • Strong SQL skills and a good understanding of existing SQL warehouses and relational databases.  
  • Build large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines.  
  • Experience with container orchestration technology – Docker/Kubernetes. 
  • Must have experience executing projects end-to-end.

The Director of Marketing Technology Strategy is a leadership role, responsible for guiding and shaping our fast-growing marketing technology strategy practice.  This role focuses on advancing a strategy practice that supports our clients by identifying and prioritizing opportunities for improving their technology maturity, digital transformation, systems selection, solution design, change management and analytics capabilities. This position is responsible for acting as a trusted advisor to clients for strategic and technical guidance. 

What you’ll do:

The practice you will lead drives the technical discovery of the MarTech ecosystem to identify high-level technology capabilities and integration processes to be implemented, as well as setting the principles and patterns to guide technology implementation in collaboration with the clients IT organization and our specialist solutions architects.  

This arm of the company also consults on enablement strategy for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. It is important for this person to have a robust knowledge and interest in AI and ML resourcing for marketers and to have a confident POV to successfully advise our customers.  

Lastly, as a Google Cloud certified company it is advantageous to have advanced analytics skills with a focus on GCP. 

Your team’s engagements help our clients understand: 

  • How their current state capabilities align to industry best practices, competitors, and their business need 
  • What technology initiatives and functionality will enable them to achieve their business goals, while crafting the vision of their future state from an enabling capability perspective 
  • How to implement technology capabilities over time, detailing business benefits and value, while improving customer experience program performance 

You must be able to: 

  • Identify gaps and opportunities through business analysis and uncover client needs to reach their business objectives. 
  • Analyze and assess possible technologies and vendors, to guide our clients in technology selection processes  
  • Communicate a broad marketing technology point of view to an executive-level audience. 
  • Provide expertise, vendor knowledge, and industry best practices across marketing technology components such as:

In this pre-sales context, your role will be showcasing how specific technologies would enable the business to drive value for the brand by delivering more personalized customer journey and experiences.

Qualifications and Experience

Our candidate is a well-rounded professional with explicit experience in MarTech. This person should be well exposed to the Martech landscape and be comfortable owning a client conversation on the topic. This person has experience in digital marketing services, with consultiing experience highly-desired, and is comfortable finding a path to hit goals through both short-term projects and longer-term agency retainers. Specifically, desirable experience includes: 

  • 5+ years of work experience within the space of technology, data, and customer experience, either at a consultancy, an agency, technology vendor or client-side. 
  • A master’s degree in business or technology 
  • Expertise in advising on or implementing technology in a consulting role (either in agency or internal) 
  • Familiarity with the processes and artifacts around enterprise architecture 
  • 5 or more years of relevant experience, including experience in management consulting and/or client facing engagement delivery, required

As Director of Analytics, you will be responsible for expanding and scaling our analytics practice. You will partner with the data engineering and account leads to set strategy, develop measurement frameworks, create a learning agenda, provide thought leadership, and deliver ongoing guidance to both internal and external stakeholders.  

What you’ll do:

This role combines deep expertise in measurement, data science, and marketing technology to help clients harness the power of their data. You are a subject matter expert in end-to-end analytical techniques with some advanced data science and/or dashboard development experience. You will work closely with clients to identify and implement data strategies that lead to measurable business outcomes.  

Reporting to the Chief Solutions Officer, you will use marketing analytics techniques to examine marketing activities and to define customer experience strategies to drive growth for our clients. These projects will include Predictive Modeling, Media Mix Optimization, Analysis of Covariance (test & control), Cluster Analysis, and Attribution Modeling of disaggregated event-stream data. The Director will lead a team coordinating with some of our most important clients on data strategy, predictive modeling, and presentation of results on high-visibility projects. In many cases, the Director will be hands-on keyboard revising code and often working closely with team members and account leads to present customer experience analytics strategies and results from implementing those strategies. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Practice Leadership: Build and lead the analytics practice across Data Science, Engineering, MarTech, and Data Visualization/Reporting, including the development of new services, solutions, and strategies that align with business and client goals.  
  • Data Strategy Development: Partner with clients to understand their business challenges, and design data-driven solutions that encompass advanced analytics, measurement frameworks, and predictive modeling. 
  • Client Consulting & Engagement: Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, helping them unlock the value of their data through measurement and analytics. Ensure that all recommendations are actionable and tied to clear business objectives. 
  • Media and Martech SME: Bring an understanding of digital planning and buying, with a focus on standard media metrics.  Ability to demonstrate understanding of digital tagging, tracking, QA, and maintenance across mobile, social, etc. and their advantages/limitations. 
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams (e.g., data engineering, strategy, platforms) to align analytics initiatives with overall business goals and ensure seamless implementation of data strategies. Manage project teams and direct reports effectively to drive innovation in analytics and support client expectations. 
  • Hands-On Analytics: Roll up your sleeves and dive into the data when needed—extracting, analyzing, and interpreting complex datasets to uncover insights, trends, and opportunities. 
  • Data Science and Measurement: Leverage advanced data science methodologies such as predictive modeling, machine learning, and other AI techniques to create deeper insights, support data-driven decision-making and manage to project timelines. 
  • Team Building and Leadership: Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing analytics team as the practice grows. Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration.  
  • Reporting & Performance Measurement: Develop clear reporting frameworks that track key performance indicators and ensure data-driven insights lead to meaningful actions and manage data quality control. 
  • Thought Leadership: Represent the company as a subject matter expert in analytics through thought leadership, webinars, blog posts and white papers. 

Qualifications and skills: 

  • Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices, strong time-management, excellent stakeholder management and proactive communication. 
  • Ability to problem solve in real time alongside business partners, rapidly propose solutions, and build prototypes and solutions as part of a fast-moving Scrum team. 
  • Experience with complex query writing using SQL with the ability to join multiple tables, summarizing, grouping, data manipulation, data prep for visualization. 
  • Familiarity and knowledge of other programing languages and analytical data visualization tools (Python, PowerBI, R, DataBricks, Tableau, Looker, etc) . 
  • Ability to arrive at conclusions and give recommendations to senior stakeholders/clients on information obtained. 
  • Demonstrated experience specifically with: 
  • Churn, LTV / CLV, propensity, clustering, classification, sentiment analysis, anomaly detection 
  • Ability to diagnose and remedy BI pipeline and visualization bugs and/or performance lags. 
  • Familiarity with marketing technology platforms (e.g., CRM, CDP, Experimentation) and how they integrate with marketing analytics. 
  • Experience presenting information in spoken, written or visual form to a variety of audiences, from our teams to external client executives. 
  • A bachelor’s degree in at least one of these fields required: statistics, economics, applied mathematics, optimization, computer science, physics. 
  • 7+ years of experience applying analytics to measure marketing effectiveness with a focus on measurement and attribution. 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Experience in a consulting or agency environment. 
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior team members in analytics methodologies. 
  • Experience developing and managing a team. 
  • Advanced cloud environment experience, especially GCP and AWS 
  • A passion for staying current with the latest trends and technologies in analytics, data science, and marketing. 
  • Knowledge of consumer data compliance and global data privacy regulations (e.g.; CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, ePrivacy)

What do I need to do to be ready for my first day?

Actable has an Employee Experience Manager who will coordinate your new hire and onboarding process. Until your first day though, please take a minute to rest and recharge.
